A Biblical view of President’s Day

God appoints rulers and kings (Presidents):

“Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.”  Romans 13:1

“By me kings reign, And rulers decree justice.  By me princes rule, and nobles, All who judge rightly.”  Proverbs 8:15-16

“He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings…”  Daniel 2:21

God controls the actions of rulers and kings (Presidents):

“The king’s heart is like channels of water in the hand of the LORD;

He turns it wherever He wishes.”   Proverbs 21:1

God instructs us to obey, honor, and pray for our rulers and kings (Presidents):

“And He said to them, “Then render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's.”  Luke 20:25

“First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.  This is good, and it pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”   I Timothy 2:1-4

“Remind them to be subject to rulers, to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good deed, to malign no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing every consideration for all men.”    Titus 3:1-2

God condemns the actions of evil rulers and kings (Presidents):

It is an abomination for kings to commit wicked acts, Because a throne is established on righteousness.  Proverbs 16:12

When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, But when a wicked person rules, people groan.”  “The king gives stability to the land by justice, But a person who takes bribes ruins it.”  “If a ruler pays attention to falsehood, All his ministers become wicked.”  Proverbs 29:2,4,12

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD….”  Psalms 33:12
