Earth Day: A Biblical perspective

In honor of Earth Day: a Biblical perspective of Earth....

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it.

When the LORD saw that human wickedness was widespread on the earth and that every inclination of the human mind was nothing but evil all the time, the LORD regretted that he had made man on the earth, and he was deeply grieved.

He wiped out every living thing that was on the face of the earth, from mankind to livestock, to creatures that crawl, to the birds of the sky, and they were wiped off the earth. Only Noah was left, and those that were with him in the ark.

“Bring out all the living creatures that are with you — birds, livestock, those that crawl on the earth — and they will spread over the earth and be fruitful and multiply on the earth.” All the animals, all the creatures that crawl, and all the flying creatures — everything that moves on the earth — came out of the ark by their families.

“As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night will not cease.

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.  And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.  And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

On that day the LORD will become King over the whole earth — the LORD alone, and his name alone.

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth.

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea.

Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.

Amen.
